I have excellent interpersonal skills, these being demonstrated in liasing with other members of the company team, both with my M.D. in terms of planning and strategy creation, and sales/laboratory personnel in terms of putting plans into action. In this way I have maintained a good working relationship with all my colleagues since I joined the company over four years ago. My communication abilities are shown in both the verbal presentations given at seminars and conferences, and the written material I have prepared - whether it is in the form of technical notes for a course or market trends for a sales meeting. I am an extremely creative person, but can also analyse complex sets of data in a combined and systematic way. In addition to these main management skills, I am also thoroughly competent in laboratory work, my experience ranging from microbiology to complex chromatographic analysis. I believe this gives me an excellent insight into what is achievable at ground level in the laboratory area, rather than producing unrealistic targets.
I have used Windows™ based systems extensively for the past ten years, together with the following software packages; Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Word and Excel), Symantec ACT! and Corel WordPerfect. I also have knowledge of Quattro Pro and JustWrite. Prior to using PC-compatible computers, I had experience of Expert, Apple and various 8-bit systems, including programming in BASIC. I am able to type accurately at approximately 40 w.p.m.
I love traveling, especially when exploring new countries and cultures, and have managed to exploit this passion frequently, both throughout my days as a student and in recent years. I enjoy personal competitive sports, mostly badminton, squash and tennis, but also like the thrill of following Formula 1 racing as a spectator. I am a 6th Kyu in Shotokan Karate, which I practiced for self discipline and fitness, and am looking to start training again after a lengthy break. I enjoy socialising, whether it is in a public environment or merely cooking a meal for friends at home - this latter allows me to experiment with my culinary skills. I also have a number of hobbies that help me relax in my spare time; I am a keen amateur military historian of the period of 1935-1945, and I enjoy modeling aircraft and vehicles from this period. To this end I write for an international aviation modeling magazine, and although I also write fiction, I have not yet published. These hobbies, as well as my general interest in science, provide a great deal of material for another passion of mine - reading, which I often enjoy while listening to music, both classical and contemporary.
